Fiancee visa is the non immigrant entry permit that is given to the female partners of US citizens, to enter the United States and complete the marriage with their citizen partners. Fiancee visa is a general depiction and is no different to the fiance visa but the differentiation is only the gender of the partner. There are thousands of fiancee visa applications that are processed by the immigration department on a yearly basis and almost 99% of these visas are eventually amended to AOS and eventual permanent residency. It is relatively easier to obtain a fiance visa and enter the US, so, there are many instances where this facility has been misused by people for their unscrupulous benefits. However, for genuine applicants, the fiancee visa is a very good way of completing the marriage in the United States.
The fiancee visa application needs to be initiated by the partner who is the US citizen. This application has to be submitted to the local embassy beneficiary’s country, along with all the relevant documents and the applicable fees. The applicant and the partner are then subject to many levels of scrutiny by the embassies and also the fiance visa center. These procedures include interviews, medical examination and background checks. The entire process of verification can take up to a month for completion. During this process, the genuine-ty of the application and the credentials of the applicant and beneficiary are established. This step is very important to the authorities because of the potential misuse of the laws and regulations that may happen is some cases. After this verification, the application is either approved or rejected.
Approved applications are then processed by the visa center and fiancee visa is issued. The beneficiary must ensure that the travel to US is made within the stipulated time to avoid expiry of the visa. Upon arrival in the US, the beneficiary is subject to another round of inspection at the airport before admission onto the US. Fiancee visa holders must ensure that their marriage to the citizen partner is complete before the expiry of the visa. After completion of the marriage, the beneficiaries must ensure that their visa status is amended to AOS status. There a set of further procedures that need to be completed before permanent residence is granted to the beneficiary. People must ensure that all the relevant requirements are completed to avoid complications or expulsions after marriage.
